Commissioned by Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Victim CARE is a free and confidential service available to all victims of crime and Anti-Social Behaviour across Nottinghamshire. 

They can support victims even if they don’t report the crime to the police. They also offer restorative justice to victims, affording them the opportunity to communicate with the perpetrator of their crime.

NottsWatch have enjoyed a mutually supportive relationship with Victim Care since Eva Hunt and Victoria Willis presented at our 2017 conference, The Changing Face of Crime.

Victim Care’s Engagement Officer, Andrew Goodall joined NottsWatch Chair, Sue Sambells, Notts County Council’s Age Friendly Neighbourhood Coordinator, Steve Smith and local PCSO, Karen Shutler at Bilborough College on 14 November 2018. Helen Fern, teacher of BTEC Public Services had contacted Sue to ask her to speak to a group of students about the impact of crime. Sue invited her community safety colleagues to ensure the students were given a well-balanced view.

Update 31 March 2020:

Nottinghamshire Victim CARE supports victims of crime, including scams and fraud, hate incidents and anti-social behaviour.

We are a support organisation independent of the police and our trained staff and volunteers can offer free and confidential support initially by telephone, in the following ways:

✔ Emotional Support in order to help you cope and recover from the crime

✔ Information on other agencies (for e.g Trading Standards and Take 5, please see below for website links to these agencies should you need)

✔ Advice on Crime Prevention (we can provide a leaflet with scam prevention information; please contact us should you wish to receive this)

✔ Restorative contact between victim and offender  

As part of our response to the pandemic, we are taking the following steps to keep our staff and communities safe:

✔ The free to call Contact Line is operational six days a week, Monday to Saturday from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm

✔ We have a team of Victim Caseworkers and Restorative Justice Practitioners continuing to provide telephone support to victims and witnesses of crime

✔ Our social media (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram @NottsVictimCare) as well as our website www.nottsvictimcare.org.uk provides up to date information relevant to victims, witnesses and vulnerable residents of Nottinghamshire

✔ We are cancelling all community events, home and community visits as well as attending meetings previously arranged with our partner agencies - we apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment caused. 

✔ We are unable to use the postal services and will use emails, phone and text messages instead

✔ We will be reviewing the situation in line with the government’s response
