Nottinghamshire Neighbourhood Watch (NottsWatch®) have been fortunate to have received financial and practical support from Notts County Council for many years. This relationship was formalised on 21 July 2016 when a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Notts County Council and Nottinghamshire Neighbourhood Watch.
NottsWatch are currently working with NCC’s Steve Smith and Notts Police Force’s Helen Ridley to draft a new, collaborative MoU between all three parties. All share common goals to protect the public, enable community cohesion and make Notts a great place to live and work in and embrace working together to better achieve these aims.

In recognition that older people are now being targeted by criminals we are working closely with AFN to reach out to our senior citizens with aim of tackling loneliness, improving community connections and providing training to improve community resilience. The projects that we have been, and continue to work on, include rolling out Tech and Tea (providing practical, technical help to individuals – usually older people – at an informal drop in session). Through collaborative work with Inspire, three pilot schemes have been established at the libraries in Beeston, Mansfield & Sutton-in-Ashfield. For more information, refer to our Inspire page.
Take a Seat Campaign
Older people, people with a disability or chronic illness looking to take a break and have a sit down while they are out and about can now get help from the Take a Seat initiative.
Local shops who display the We are Age Friendly sticker will offer people the chance to sit down and a warm welcome.
Some businesses will also offer a drink and, if accessible, use of their toilet facilities.

NottsWatch also hope to develop Good Neighbour Schemes to further compliment the good work achieved by many neighbourhood watch schemes.
Nottinghamshire County Council Trading Standards

The Trading Standards team is responsible for:
- •protecting consumers against rogue traders and traders who have acted unfairly
- •supporting legitimate businesses to help them trade well and act quickly to tackle issues compromising consumer safety
- •playing an important role in managing the health and welfare of the county's livestock.

Concerned neighbours can register to support vulnerable neighbours in this simple scheme. The vulnerable neighbour would pass a notice through the letterbox, to any unexpected callers, giving genuine callers an opportunity to pursue their visit by first contacting the nominated neighbour.

Concerns for abuse/neglect of a vulnerable adult
Friends Anyone can complete the free online training to raise their awareness of scams. People are encouraged to share their knowledge.
SCAM Champions – By completing further free training, people can deliver their own Friends sessions face to face. Trading Standards can currently only deliver sessions to professional groups and are unable to visit community groups. Anyone can register as a Scam Champion to deliver sessions. Trading Standards are happy to provide further information to interested parties.
Notts CC Trading Standards team also work in partnership with Checkatrade to provide an approved trader scheme to help Nottinghamshire consumers choose a trader they can trust and rely upon.
