This week I have heard from Lesja who was inspired to become a Scam Marshall following scammers targeting her daughter. She helps keep her friends and neighbours aware of the many scams and also looks after their properties when they go on holiday.

What is a Scam Marshall?

A Scam Marshal is any resident in the UK who has been targeted by a scam and now wants to fight back and take a stand against scams. Scam Marshals do this by sharing their own experiences, helping others to report and recognise scams and sending any scam mail that they receive to the NTS Scams Team so that it can be utilised as evidence in future investigative and enforcement work. This work by Scam Marshals plays a huge role in helping to stop the scam mail altogether. Read more on the Friends Against Scams website

And thank you to Lesja and all the other Scam Marshalls and SCAMchampions who look out for us.

What is a SCAMchampion?

SCAMchampions are Friends Against Scams who want to do more. SCAMchampions host awareness sessions to recruit Friends and drive Friends Against Scams forward in their communities or workplace. SCAMchampions attend an additional session to give them a fuller understanding of the laws surrounding scams and some presentation tips. Read more on the Friends Against Scams website.
